Gruevski served as PM of North Macedonia in the period from 2006 to 2016. He ruled as an authocratic leader and has been involved in several corrption cases. In order to avoid the facing with the justtice, in 2018 he fleed to Hungary where he was granted with asylum. Designation under Section 7031(c) of the Department of State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations Act, 2022.
